Charity in Chocolate Fashion Show Returns Sept. 6

The Heart of America Foundation's Charity in Chocolate Fashion Show, sponsored by Baci Perugina and hosted by the lovely Kate Michaels, returns this Friday September 6th. Mark your calendars for a fashionably sweet evening at the Mandarin Oriental, where live models will strut the runway dressed in  haute couture that has been replaced with edible chocolate attire. Don't miss the chance to see the amazing talent of 14 area pastry chefs modeled right before your eyes.

At a media preview of the Charity in Chocolate Fashion Show at The Boxwood Winery's Tasting Room in Chevy Chase, MD, a few particpating chefs demonstrated how to begin making cocoa couture and other sweet accessories. The jewelry the Charity in Chocolate models will be wearing is nothing like the stretchable candy necklace you wore as a child.

If you think the designs on these chocolate truffles are pretty, you won't want to miss seeing the beautiful pieces local pasty chefs will create for their models. Models will be wearing dresses, hats and other accessories all made of chocolate and other sweet ingredients.

The annual Charity in Chocolate Fashion Show allows you the opportunity to do more than just look at beatiful chocolate. You can eat it too! More than 50 area restaurants will offer guests both sweet and savory tastings.

In addition to the sweet and savory tastings and open bar, guests of Charity in Chocolate will also have the chance to enter a not to miss raffle with a grand prize of a Chocolate Lover’s Dream Trip for 2 to Italy with Baci Perugina contributing the following:
  •  Car service from Pienza, Italy to Perugina headquarters in Perugia
  •  Tour of the Perugina Chocolate Factory
  • Visit to the Perugina Chocolate Museum
  • Chocolate class at the world famous Perugina Scuola del Cioccolato (Chocolate School)
  • Return car service to Pienza
For those unable to attend the event but still interested in participating in the raffle, raffle tickets can be purchased online at http://www.chocolatefashionshow.org/raffle/

Proceeds from the event support HOA's Books From The Heart program which provides books to children living in poverty.
